Welcome to Copenhagen Research Forum In the autumn of 2011, Copenhagen Research Forum invited more than 600 European researchers to contribute their comments and ideas concerning the six societal challenges in health, food & agriculture, energy, transport, climate & resources and societies that form an important part of Horizon 2020 – the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The final recommendations of these experts was published in the report “Visions for Horizon 2020 – from Copenhagen Research Forum” and presented at the Ministerial Conference of the Council of Ministers on 1 February 2012. Copenhagen Research Forum’s mission to strengthen research in Europe by providing input to Horizon 2020 would not have been such a resounding success without the positive and constructive interaction with our research colleagues from all over Europe, as well as our open dialogue with the European Commission and the Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education.

In the summer of 2012, the institutions behind Copenhagen Research Forum decided to sponsor a follow-up activity by the name Copenhagen Research Forum II (CRFII), with a dedicated focus on the implementation of Horizon 2020. This time CRF II has been carried out in a smaller scale entailing two highly esteemedrepresentatives from each challenge.

In october 2012 the CRF II report was finalized and published in the report “Copenhagen Research Forum II – Recommendations for the optimal implementation of Horizon 2020”.CRF II thus remains the only example of an unbiased voice of researchers who have worked jointly, without the involvement of other stakeholders, to formulate an opinion and clear-cut recommendations for the European research agenda. The goal has been to provide unbiased advice and input to strengthen research in Europe, based on free discussions.
